NBA Betting: San Antonio and Cleveland the good things this weekend

Nick Shiambouros talks us through the events of the last few days and the upcoming matches in the ever-exciting world of the NBA. “I think the Raptors will rise to the challenge and take care of the Warriors. Golden State has had a shocking season and is only playing for pride – I make the Raptors my best bet of the week.” The Utah Jazz thrashed the Golden State Warriors 128-104 with yet another dominant display on Wednesday evening. The Jazz came out firing and had the game in safe keeping at the half

MLB American League Preview: It’s Yankees v Sox, again

The 2010 baseball season gets underway on Sunday April 4. Nick Shiambouros looks at the teams of the American League “Nothing short of a World Series will do for the Sox this year. Boston signed John Lackey as a free agent during the winter. He is a pitcher of the highest calibre and is a welcome addition to the rotation. This team has tremendous depth and a wealth of talent

MLB National League Preview: Phillies going for three in a row

The 2010 baseball season starts on Sunday April 4 .Below is a preview of the National League with each team’s current World Series odds. “Manny Ramirez and the Dodgers are in position for another crack at making the post season. This is a team that can score plenty of runs and has quality pitching. Manager Joe Torre has done a wonderful job with this team and another good season is on the cards. They could be the value bet at these odds.” Philadelphia Phillies ( 8.0 ) This team is bidding to make the World Series for the third straight year after coming up short against the Yankees in six games in 2009. The Phillies are one of the elite teams in baseball and have an abundance of talent. They added pitcher Roy Halladay to the rotation this winter but traded Cliff Lee to Seattle. There is no doubt in my mind that they will be in contention once again this year.

NBA Betting: Jazz prepare for crucial showdown with Lakers

They boast the best point-guard in the NBA and could well finish the season as the second best in the West. Nick Shiambouros explains why the good times are rolling for the Utah Jazz. “Utah faces stiff competition from Dallas, Phoenix and Denver for the number two spot in the West. Only two games separate these four teams.” The Utah Jazz beat a determined New York Knicks team 103-98 on Thursday night with another impressive home display. The Jazz have climbed to third place in the West and have a real chance of ending the year as the second seed. A second place finish would guarantee they would not meet the Los Angeles Lakers until the Conference finals. They would also enjoy home-court advantage in the first round of the play-offs. In the second half of the season the Jazz have played as well as any other team in the West .

NBA Weekend Betting: Playoff pressure can inspire pair of wins

Nick Shiambouros is concentrating his efforts on teams that need to win with the playoffs just around the corner “Chris Bosh is still relatively unknown outside the NBA and this immensely talented individual is fully aware that a good playoff run by Toronto will elevate his marketability no end. I am anticipating a big effort from Bosh and company at Chicago and while this is bound to be a hotly contested affair my money will be on Toronto .” Miami Heat crushed the Chicago Bulls 103-74 with a dominant display at the Chicago Center on Thursday. This was one of the best performances I have seen all year long from this Miami rotation

NBA Weekend Betting: Championship contenders to the fore

Nick Shiambouros updates us on the NBA scene ahead of an intriguing weekend of b-ball action “Things could not be more competitive in both Conferences. There are a host of teams that have a legitimate chance of winning the title but only two dominate the betting. The Cleveland Cavaliers and Los Angeles Lakers are both currently trading at 3.45 for the NBA championship.

NBA Betting: Talented Toronto can go deep in the playoffs

The Raptors boast a top quality performer in Chris Bosh but there’s more than just him to this under-rated outfit, says Nick Shiambouros “Many people think the NBA finals will be contested by Los Angeles and Cleveland. According to the current prices on offer most punters agree with that assessment but I think this year has been one of the most competitive seasons in a long time and no single team has managed to truly dominate in either Conference.” The Toronto Raptors are currently in sixth place in the Eastern Conference and have a great chance of making the playoffs. Team leader Chris Bosh has just returned to the team after missing seven games through injury. Bosh remains one of the elite players in basketball averaging over 24 points per game and 11 rebounds. He is a free agent at the end of the year and a good playoff run will increase his bargaining power enormously

NBA Weekend Betting: A pair of wagers for Sunday’s action

Nick Shiambouros rounds up the latest news from the NBA before hunting down a pair of tips “In my opinion Durant should win the MVP award this year after his incredible season. This young man is averaging nearly 30 points per game and is one of the most explosive players in the game.” The Los Angeles Lakers were beaten 114-111 by a resilient Miami Heat team on Thursday evening. There were 31 lead changes in this very entertaining affair that was decided in overtime. As usual Dwyane Wade led the way for Miami with 27 points which delighted the home crowd. Kobe Bryant scored 39 points for Los Angeles but the rest of the team were not very productive on offense.

NBA Betting: Lakers are overly-reliant on Bryant

The Los Angeles Lakers have sat atop the Western Conference for several months now. But they’ve had some narrow escapes and Nick Shiambouros believes their luck may not last until the end of the season. “This week, the Lakers travel East for games against Miami, Charlotte and Orlando. On current form, I can see them losing at least two of these games.” The Los Angeles Lakers top the Western Conference, 5.5 games ahead of their nearest pursuer and many people believe they will finish the season with the best record in the West. But I’m not sure that is the case, after a couple of recent losses and some indifferent play. Since the All-Star break, the Lakers’ record is 4-2 but that does not tell the whole story.
