Southwell Placepot: Thursday 11th March

Next week, the placepot team is doubling their efforts to provide a daily perm for the lucrative pot on offer at Cheltenham, on top of the regular service at one of the lesser meetings each day, but that’s to look forward to, and today we have a run-of-the-mill card at Southwell to go at. Rather like this intro, our suggested perm lacks much in the way of creativity or diversity, but you’ve got to play the cards dealt, and remember that a placepot doesn’t necessarily have to pay big in order for you to win big; it’s all in the approach and basic stake

Southwell Placepot: Tuesday 9th February

A tough few days for the Timeform placepot selectors and though it doesn’t look to be getting an easier, the all-weather team are quietly confident they can start this week’s ball rolling at Southwell. “the one we think has the most potential is The Blue Dog , who’s got a bit to prove, including effectiveness on the surface, but a short break should have freshened him up for his handicap debut.” 1:50 – Jackie Kiely and Bright Sparky are sure to be popular in a number of placepots and it’s hard to see many going out if these two finish in the top three.

Ante-Post Betting: The Victor Chandler Chase

Brondesbury selects his horse to follow on Saturday’s big one at Ascot “Cornas is hardly raging value at odds of 12.0 , but is the horse most likely to close the gap form wise on the favourite and if you can glean place odds of around 3.0 or bigger then he is my idea of a win and place bet in Saturday’s feature.” Last year’s Victor Chandler Chase was won in an absolute canter by Master Minded, but with the current Champion Chaser over the minimum trip absent, Paul Nicholls has once again turned to his second string, Twist Magic, to fill the two mile void for a second time after his victory in the Tingle Creek. Nicholls has to his credit always been very transparent about this eight-year-old in his 21 race career on these shores since coming over from France and was never happy with the horse last season
