DAQMAN on Thursday

Thursday 8 April DAQMAN? DARING DAQMAN IN JACKPOT MOOD FOR AINTREE: Daqman dares three jackpot bets on the opening day at Aintree but is not in such a hurry as some to lay the short-priced favourites. 16 FESTIVAL LAYS IN A ROW: The man who laid 16 consecutive losing favourites at Cheltenham Festivals is planning five lays this week to bring his total to 500 since the column began. There’s one today, and he wants them all to count to maintain his overall strike-rate of 76%. 120 POINTS PROFIT: ? After a winning streak of 120 points profit from Easter week, Daqman marks your card for every Aintree race at the three-day meeting. Remember the invincibles at Cheltenham? Both got ‘beat’! Now, for Dunguib and Kauto Star at the Festival, we could read Big Buck’s and Imperial Commander at Aintree today. But it’s never that simple, is it, or the layers would all retire with fortunes as big as a banker’s bonus

Saturday 10 April DAQMAN? Betfair Big Interview: Jody Craddock

Wolves are close to surviving in the Premier League despite last week’s late defeat at Arsenal. Betfair went to meet long-serving defender Jody Craddock to learn more. “I once sold a painting for two grand – the very first Championship one I did of all the Wolves players celebrating winning the play-offs in 2003. Sir Jack Hayward bought that.” Hi Jody, so how many more points do you need to secure Premier League survival? As many as we can get. Before the Arsenal game I said another six, but that was only guessing. In reality you can’t set targets, you win a game and then it seems the team below you win a game, so that’s why you just need to get as many as you can. Eight points from four games before the Emirates has set you up, though

Timeform Race to Watch: Monday 5th April, Yarmouth 1:45

Although very early in the season, the opening race at Yarmouth on Bank Holiday Monday, a maiden race run over a mile, looks sure to throw up winners. The pace was sound and there is every reason to take a positive view of the form with the first half of the field all shaping with varying degrees of promise. “ Admission , who had already been gelded before his debut, ruling out the Classics, produced an eye-catching performance to suggest that he will be fast-tracked to pattern company sooner rather than later.” Admission , who had already been gelded before his debut, ruling out the Classics, produced an eye-catching performance to suggest that he will be fast-tracked to pattern company sooner rather than later. He seemed to do everything well within himself and was soon clear under a hand ride from jockey Hayley Turner. Admission’s breeding suggests that he will be suited by further in time, but, he showed that he wasn’t lacking speed over a mile. It would be easy to be disappointed with Clockmaker’s performance, given he was sent off a short-priced favourite to score at the second time of asking

NBA Betting: Magic might temporarily lose their sparkle at season’s end

Nick Shiambouros has a short term laying strategy for Dwight Howard’s Orlando Magic – who have the championship in their eyes and not the final few games of the season “The limited playing time of Orlando center Dwight Howard is another reason to oppose the Magic. Howard is the cornerstone of this team and it is unlikely he will play a lot of minutes. Coach Van Gundy will want him healthy and rested before the playoffs begin.” The Orlando Magic look certain to finish the season in second place in the Eastern Conference. The Magic are 4.5 games ahead of third placed Atlanta with only five games left to play in the regular season. Lebron’s Cleveland have already finished first in the Conference. In short, Orlando have nothing left to play for until the start of the playoffs later this month . Coach Stan Van Gundy’s only concern at the moment is the health of his team. He will not risk playing his starting rotation for long minutes in meaningless games and that could give Betfair punters an edge

IRELAND’S EYE on Wednesday

Wednesday 7 April IRELAND’S EYE As we look forward to the three day Aintree Grand National the Meath track at Fairyhouse winds up its four day Irish National fixture and it provides the only jumps action in these Isles. Meanwhile there is plenty of flat action on the grass at Nottingham and Catterick while Lingfield and Kempton later in the evening provides the all weather action. Our attention is focused on Fairyhouse today where a previous course winner is taken to cope with the step up in distance in a staying hc chase while the Willie Mullins/Ruby Walsh combination can hit the target in a maiden hurdle earlier on the card. Our excellent run of form continued yesterday when Magnanimity (12s morn-10/1) easily landed the novice hurdle at Fairyhouse with saver Whatdouthink (5/2-9/4) back in third. The ex Irish Rusty Red (4-3/1) found one too good in a handicap chase at Wetherby while other selections Summer Seeds (5s morn-3/1), Afistfullofdollars (4/1) and Aughnacurraveel (10/1) all filled the frame at Fairyhouse. The Willie Mullins trained Sicilian Hill is a lightly raced 7yo who made a winning debut in a bumper at Leopardstown on soft on his belated debut over a year ago and the son of Flemensfirth can score at the second time of asking over hurdles in the 2m maiden hurdle at Fairyhouse at 2-45.

The truth about Cheltenham form at Aintree

Does a strong Festival performance translate from Gloucestershire to Merseyside? Simon Rowlands looked at the figures “My advice for Aintree is to lay horses that are underpriced and to back those that are overpriced after considering each case on its merits.

The Punter’s picks for the US Masters

The Punter thinks it’s time to leave Tiger alone, but does he think he can win? Read his US Masters preview here…. “Chad has shown a real aptitude for Augusta and already has a second and third place to his name. He’s also playing fairly well at present and if I was to pick one player I’d be most confident of a good showing at a fair price, he’d be the one.” The wait is almost over and we’re now just hours away from one of the most eagerly awaited golf tournaments of all time, and the big question is… Why isn’t Tano Goya defending his Madeira Open title? What do you mean you don’t care? If I’m honest nor do I, though I will be backing my ole mate Jorge Campillo in Madeira…But of course, this week is all about one event and maybe even one man… The US Masters has a really strange feel about it this year, and has done for months for me, I really haven’t had a strong feel or fancy for the event at any stage, and with just a day to go before kick-off I still feel like that. Anyway that’s enough negativity; let’s start in the obvious place, with Tiger Woods… It was really good to see his press conference go so well on Monday; I was starting to get a bit fed up with the constant bad press he was getting
